BC is a lake community providing plenty of year
round activity on the water and on land. The community is located
at a junction of two lakes and two highways. In Sicamous Highway
#1 and Hwy 97A connect and the Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake meet
via the Sicamous Narrows. It is easy to see why, Sicamous, BC
is a popular stop when touring the Shuswap by car or by boat.
In the sunshine months the most popular activities
in the region include boating, sailing, water skiing, canoeing,
swimming, river kayaking, camping, birdwatching, cycling, mountain
biking, hang gliding, horseback riding, offroading, hiking and
houseboating. How big is houseboating, well, Sicamous, BC is also
referred to as the "Houseboat Capital of Canada."
From the boat launches and marinas, located in
and around the community, boats depart regularly on adventures
exploring the Shuswap and Mara Lakes. Many plan on visiting the
sandy beaches, secluded coves, marine parks, pictograph heritage
sites and islands nearby. River Kayakers, not only enjoy time
on the lakes but also enjoy the Eagle River Paddling Route just
north of Sicamous.
There is plenty of hiking in the region too. Some
of the more popular hiking routes in the area include the Old
Annis Mine, Sicamous Creek, Owlhead, Mara Mountain and Quest Mountain
Hiking Trails. Mountain bikers share some of these trails so keep
your head up. Some of the mountain biking routes include the Simm
Creek Bike Loop and Larch Hills.
During the winter months, after the snow has covered
the trails and the temperatures have dropped snowmobilers, cross
country skiers and snowshoers explore the trails around Mara and
Quest Mountains and out near Three Valley on Boulder Mountain.

The small community of Sicamous is a popular destination
for travelers because it sits on the lake and because of the selection
of amenities available in town. The community services include
restaurants, accommodations, gas stations, grocery stores, banks,
postal office, laundromats, retail stores, pubs, campgrounds,
medical services and repair shops.
