Walk
of Stars is a country music
walking tour found on the downtown streets of Merritt, BC, Canada.
The community of Merritt hosts Canada's largest country music
festival. Located downtown is a series of plaques, hand prints
and murals paying tribute to the country music stars who have
performed at the festival.
Each plaque is incased in a
wooden frame display case and contains a hand print, picture ,
signature and brief information about each country music star.
Each display case is posted downtown, in amongst, the historical,
western and country music murals painted on the side of many of
the buildings.
Artists have painted murals of country music stars,
abstract art and historical local moments on the buildings downtown.
The 'Walk of Stars' is a good way to view the murals and to shop
the downtown core visiting with the many restaurants, galleries,
gift shops and retail stores.
The 'Walk of Stars' and the
colorful murals is a direct result of the Merritt Country Music
Festival and the western lifestyle enjoyed by many in this region.
