Lake, B.C. is
a lake community, resting in a high elevation valley, surrounded
by ranchlands, grasslands and wetlands. The Highland Valley village
rests in the Thompson-Shuswap region of British Columbia, Canada
just across the street from Logan Lake and Maggs
Park.
The most popular summer activities
enjoyed while exploring Logan Lake include hiking, mountain biking,
camping, canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, dirt biking, atving
and off roading. Many trails in the region cater to dirt bikes
and atvs like the Chuwhels Mtn., GKMA and Greenstone Mtn Motorcycle
Routes. Many hikers and mountain bikers also explore these same
off roading trails.
The region around Logan Lake is decorated with
many lakes surrounded by grasslands and ponds of wetlands. Some
of the hiking lakes in the area include wilderness camping. Paska
, Dairy and Face Lake all provide
a good starting point for a hike, bike, drive with many gravel
roads and trails in the area leading to more lakes like Roper,
Wyse and Dominic Lakes.
The Highland Valley region enjoys a good number
of fishing, camping, boating and canoeing lakes too. Leighton
and Tunkwa Lakes in the Tunkwa Provincial
Park located north of Logan Lake are the most recognized lakes
in the area for fishing and boating. Both lakes are stocked with
rainbow trout and trolling is the fishing technique of choice.
Tunkwa Park has hosted the World Fly Fishing Championships in
the past.
During the winter months, after the snow falls
and the temperatures drop, the community of Logan Lake transforms
itself into a winter wonderland. The community lake, in the centre
of town, becomes a skating rink and the massive network of trails
in the outlying regions become transportation routes for people
who enjoy cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing and snowmobiling.
A designated Logan Lake Snowmobile Route and XC
Trail System is located just north of the village attracting groups
of cross country skiers and snowmobilers to the region. The Logan
Lake Snowmobile Route covers a large swath of land exploring around
lakes like Bose, Wyse and Ware Lakes. The Logan Lake XC Ski Trails
operate separately from the Snowmobile routes.
Logan Lake is a small village with most of the
amenities required by travelers readily available, just not allot
of them. Services important to travelers located in Logan Lake
include a small selection of accommodations, gas stations and
restaurants... plus a laundromat, a grocery store and a bank.
