Lake is a very remote recreation
lake destination deep in the back country forests located north
of Kamloops, British Columbia Canada. The lake is a popular wilderness
destination for fishing, camping, canoeing and mountain biking.
There is a recreation wilderness campsite on the
lake. It is a no frills camping experience. Which means you pack
out what you pack in. Leave no footprint as wilderness campsites
depend on self maintenance. The 14 wilderness campsites vary.
Some campsites face the lake and while others hide in the trees.
The big draw of Whitewood Lake is the fishing and
canoeing. The 15 hectare lake is a popular
spot for fly fishing and trolling for rainbow trout. A car top
boat launch is available in the campground which provides access
to the lake.
The campground includes pit toilets, a few fire
rings and a few picnic tables. It operates on a first come first
serve basis. The drive along the gravel roads to the lake explores
canyons and travels over rivers. It s a very scenic drive and
is a big part of the adventure. Although, be aware the lake campground
is located next to a gravel road which is busy at times with large
logging trucks.
From the campground there is a series of unmarked
trails heading into the trees. ATVs, horseback riders and mountain
bikers explore these trails and gravel roads located around Whitewood
Lake.
