Sun Peaks Mountain is a year round recreation destination located north of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. During the winter months the mountain is a ski resort catering to downhill skiers and snowboarders. During the summer months the mountain transforms itself into a mountain bike park and hiking destination.

The mountain destination covers over 3, 678 hectares of wilderness countryside. It is the second largest ski hill in British Columbia and the third largest in Canada. A total of 122 trails cover the mountain side with 10% of the trails rated as novice, 58% intermediate and 32% expert. The longest trail run is said to be 8 kilometres ( 5 miles) long.

In the winter months the hill is explored by many who enjoy snowboarding, downhill and cross country skiing. The summit peaks at 2,152 metres (7,060 feet) and has a vertical of 881 metres (2,891 feet). The 12 lifts on the mountain service the two alpine bowls, the two snowboard terrain parks, the tube park and the many snow trails.

In the summer months the mountain is blossoming in flowers and the alpine meadows explode with colors. Mountain bikers and hikers, photographers and birdwatchers visit the mountain to explore the many trails. With the snow gone the whole back country opens up to exploration.

The village located at the base of the mountain is fully equipped to service most travelers. In the village is a good selection of accommodations, tour groups and restaurants. The lodge and inn accommodations operating on the mountain house most of the coffee shops, pubs and restaurants.

How to Get to Sun Peaks Mountain: From Kamloops, BC head east on Highway 1. Keep an eye out for the exit heading north to Jasper, Alberta via Highway 5. Take it. Now look for signs heading to Heffley Creek and to the Sun peaks Resort. Route is well signed and should be no problem. Turn right at Heffley Creek and turn left at the General Store. It should take no longer than 1/2 hour from here to reach the mountain village.
