| McConnell
Lake-Lake Shore Loop Trail is
a wonderful hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing, snowshoeing and
cross country ski route located on the shores of McConnell Lake
near the community of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. The
recreation lake and trail system attract many to the day use park
area year round because of the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful
scenery.
The trail explores through a forest and travels
along the shores of McConnell Lake. The main route follows, mostly,
a pine needle cushioned trail surrounded by deadfall trees and
including stepping over exposed tree roots. Hiking the trail should
take no longer than an hour and a half to complete and return
to the parking lot.
The parking lot in the park is also the location
of the trailhead. Also in the parking lot area is a boat launch
accessing McConnell Lake, some picnic tables and an outhouse.
Canoes and small boats use the boat launch regularly. Some arrive
for pleasure while others for the fishing. There is trout in this
lake.
How to
Get to McConnell Lake: Travel
along Hwy #5 (Coquihalla Highway) towards the community of Lac
Le Jeune. Keep an eye open for the Lac Le Jeune Road exit. Take
the exit and continue traveling for approximately an hour to the
park entrance which will show up on your left.
