shuswap-300The Thompson-Shuswap region protects some of BC's most important rivers like the Adams River and the Thompson River. The Adams River travels through Haig Brown Provincial Park and is home to the world's largest sockeye salmon run. The Thompson River starts near the BC and Alberta border and travels over 489 kilometres south and west through the region to Lytton.

The lakes in the region line up one after the other. There are so many. Some of the main lakes in the region popular for recreation and with some size and notoriety are the Shuswap, Kamloops, Nicola and Tunkwa Lakes. Shuswap Lake enjoys the largest houseboat fleet in Canada. Tunkwa Lake is listed in the TOP 10 provincial trout fisheries and it was host to the World Fly Fishing Championship.
