Beaches ...There are many recreational beaches
in the Thompson-Shuswap region because of the many lakes and rivers.
Some of the beaches are located in remote locations while others
are within the city limits of some of the main communities. There
are beaches covered in pure white sand and there are beaches layered
in small pebbles.
Some of the recreational beaches on some of the
Thompson-Shuswap lakes and rivers include playgrounds, washrooms,
concession stands, BBQ pits, campgrounds and water sport rental
opportunities. Then there are others, the more remote beaches,
with just fire pits and pit toilets.
There are too many beaches to list in the Thompson-Shuswap
region but here are some of the favorites. In and around the community
of Kamloops, BC, Canada the most popular sandy beaches are located
on Paul Lake and on the Thompson River. The Shuswap Lake region
is also a haven for boating and beaches.
The Shuswap Lake system is shaped like the letter
"H" consisting of two developed southern arms (Shuswap
Lake Main Arm and Salmon Arm ) and two undeveloped upper arms
(Anstey Arm and Seymour Arm). The lake consists of over 1400 kilometres
of shoreline revealing numerous sandy beaches, private bays, hidden
coves, marine parks, estuaries, hiking trails, pictographs, boat,
day use parks, launches and campgrounds.
Some of the more popular and easily accessable
Shuswap Lake beaches include Herald Provincial Park, Shuswap Lake
Provincial Park, Narrows Village Beach, White Lake and Sicamous
Sands Public Beach Park.
